Newcomers Club of New Orleans
Newcomers Club of New Orleans          P.O. Box 6251  Metairie, LA 70009

"My wife loves this club!"
           Jim Annaconne

We offer women new to our city....

...friendship and entertainment.

...a variety of experiences to use your talents to flourish in your new city.

...the opportunity to be a part of a unique Mardi Gras Krewe, a famous New Orleans tradition.

A Brief History of the Newcomers Club of New Orleans

In 1947 a group of ladies called the New Orleans Hostess Service saw the need for an organization to welcome new people into the community, offer them friendship and entertainment, and provide them with the opportunity to use their talents and experiences to make a place for themselves in their new city.

This world grows smaller as technology allows us to stay in touch with friends and family around the world. But a move to a new city still means establishing new relationships and finding new activities to make a place for yourself in your new home and community.

We invite you to attend one of our monthly luncheons or coffees to learn more about the club and meet some of the members.

We have many activities that can help you and your family get more involved and meet other people who have also been "transplanted" to New Orleans. Some of these are: a book club, a gourmet club, a "lazy" gourmet group, a "Discover New Orleans" group and volunteer opportunities for other non-profit organizations. Or, if you have a favorite hobby or pastime, you can explore starting your own activity group with other members.

ELIGIBILITY

A woman is eligible to join the Newcomers’ Club if she is a newly arrived or returning resident to the Metropolitan New Orleans area, which is designated as Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Plaquemines parishes, provided she joins before the expiration of the two-year anniversary of residency.

Residents in this designated area for a period of more than two consecutive years since their legal age of twenty-one (21) shall not be eligible to join.

Once a year, in the month of September, an exception shall be made. Those residing in the designated membership area, who have not previously been members, shall be allowed to seek membership.

Natives of the Metropolitan New Orleans area are eligible to join only if they have maintained a residence outside the Metropolitan New Orleans area for a minimum of five (5) consecutive years. They are then able to join the Newcomers Club during the open enrollment in September.
